NBD!!! Fullerton P-Bass

Hello gang,

I'm new here, and to the bass world. I happen to be in a thrift store this past Saturday, and picked this up for $8 (including a gig bag). I can't seem to find any information on Fullerton basses other than the Fenders made at the Fullerton factory.

This bass seems really well made, for what is probably a sub-entry level bass. Nonetheless, it looks brand new. I set it up and adjusted the pickups. It sounds great. And the neck has no dead spots. All-in-all, I'm very pleased with it. But if anyone has any information on it, please share. There's no numbers or model anywhere on it. I'd like to know out of curiosity.

Thanks

Phil

Not too bad for $8, huh

With a pickup upgrade (costing more than the bass, BTW), you could still come out with a great-sounding P-bass for under $100, assuming that the stock pickup doesn't already do it for you.

I think the stock pups are ...ok at best. I was thinking of a pot/cap upgrade first to see if that would help. It certainly did with my Les Paul and my Strat, but the bass is a whole different puppy.

If I change the pups, I may try the GFS PB Pro's.

I think black would look good on it. You could either cut it yourself, or make a tracing and send it to one of the companies who does custom cuts.

Personally, I've never done that, but I'm sure some of the guys here on TalkBass will chime in with suggestions on who to contact to have one made.

Kool! Thanks Jeff

I love mine!! Everyone that keeps talking about changinging something doesn't seem to own one.
Well I do and this thing screams!!!! From top to bottom, and this bass has active pickups that go from clean to growl with a twist of a knob.
Meet my go to bass, and I have a StingRay!
