Funny you mention that, I actually have one of these Sadowsky neoprene straps. I bought it directly from Roger back in 2008/09 when I visited his workshop in NYC

A 5-er will have even more neck dive if built with an empress body. Can't make the headstock too heavy on a lightweight body unless you extend the upper horn, which I doubt G&L will do for you.
On the thread about Empress here on TB, every one owning an Empress JB-5 is happy with the balance, with no reports of neck dive. If anything, the LB-100 seems to be the only one prone to neck dive a bit.
I reckon the JB-5 has a bigger body, bigger bridge, more knobs, a plate, and two pickups…. That might help balancing out.

Hey people of TB, today is a NBD for me.
The G&L LB-100 (Build to order) that I ordered on April 27 has arrived today, July 27. I was quoted 6/7 months, it's here 3 months after the initial deposit. Well done G&L! Big thanks to Greg @RocketMusic for the incredible customer service.
As you can see, I went very classic: alpine white finish on Empress body, black pickguard, Indian rosewood fingerboard, quartersawn maple neck, and logo delete option for the headstock (model number is removed, only showing G&L).
First impressions: it's light! Apparently not the lightest for an Empress body bass at 7.4lb but I'm fine with that as it already has a bit of neck dive, however nothing major and maybe a different strap would fix that. I feel like I'm holding a guitar!
I gotta say, such a light bass is a weird feeling. You feel like you've kind of been ripped off, that you're holding a chinese plywood instrument that you bought for $90 on AliExpress
But it actually is a great instrument. Really liking it so far. It sounds quite punchy through my sh*tty home amp, can't wait to play it in practice with my band on a bigger amp. Very resonant!
Finish is quite good, not much to write home about, it's what you'd expect of an American made instrument.
I might do what I've been recommended, which is to give it a proper shielding as there's a bit of noise. Shame G&L can't do that properly, it seems to be a common issue.
Overall, happy with the bass, it arrived waaay quicker than expected, plays great, looks rock'n'roll af.
I played it safe with the options/look, but I've always loved white basses. I'm already thinking of the next one though, not to replace it of course, but to complete it. Probably a JB-5, still in Empress. We'll see…
Any thoughts? How do you guys like the LB-100?
I had to send mine back, initially, due to a sloppy fit at the neck joint. But they addressed it, everything is nice and tight now.
Easily my favorite bass now. My build spec is similar to yours-- Quartersawn maple neck, rosewood fretboard. I went for the vintage neck width (1.75" nut) and absolutely love it! Mine is alder-bodied instead of Empress, but still surprisingly-light!
I had an empress JB-5 for a while that had some neck dive, but that was probably my fault. I chose ebony as the fretboard wood. I should have stuck with something lighter.
Not very severe. I probably would have kept it except I also mistakenly got the 9.5" radius. I had no ideal I wouldn't like it. I had somehow always acquired 5 stringers with flatter radii before that point.
I have a G&L Fullerton JB and when I bought it new 16 months ago it was really noisy even for a single coil Jazz Bass. I took it to a tech and we were surprised it didn't have shielding. However at his location it wasn't anywhere near as noisy. I played it at a friends apartment in the same location i live in and it was again very noisy.
I have come to find out that it the old electrical system in the old apartments we live. Plus there is a Light Rail train track running down the middle of the street we live on. So I agree with your assessment that your electrical system is at least partly to blame. Mine like yours did come perfectly set-up and it is a great instrument. Why they don't shield them is a mystery when they do everything else to provide a top quality instrument.
Anyway, I thought you might like to know my experience.
I just played my new Empress LB-100 in practice tonight for the first time, and wow what a bass!
This is THE sound I've been wanting for a long time. Perfect rock sound, sits perfectly in the mix… An amazing Pbass!
Sustain is great too…. And the bass is very light which is great for the duration of the practice.
