NBD- Hammersmith P4- RPH

It's finally here! Earlier this week I unboxed my new Hammersmith bass. There's a long story regarding how this bass came to be that spans almost two years but let's focus on this amazing bass!

The body is a slightly undersized P shape in Alder. Neck is Maple with Rosewood board and pearloid blocks and cream binding. The satin finish on the back of the neck is incredible.
Body paint color is a BMW paint color called Marrakesh Brown and looks very dark brown in dimly lit areas and a dark gold color under natural light. My wife tried to capture the colors for me, but you really need to see it in person to get the full effect.

The pickups are all Nordstrands, with the bridge pickup being a Nordy Big Man. It is switchable between series, parallel, and single coil. It is wired Volume, Volume, Coil Tap, Passive Tone.

Bridge is brass and is a proprietary design of Hammersmiths.

I am in love with this bass! It is light (about 8.5lbs), balances perfectly, and plays so smoothly. I am excited to play this with a band on Sunday to get a better idea of how it actually performs.

I know you are all here for the pics, so here we go-

That thing is beautiful!
It's almost a rootbeer color. I dig it!

When I got my Hammersmith, I liked everything about it. But that neck.... the satin finish and playability.... are exceptional.

My electronics are similar to yours with the exception of a three way neck/both/bridge switch rather than VVT.

Yes, the neck is perfect for me! The funny thing is that it is a 1.5 nut and normally I prefer thicker necks, but the combination of being a little thicker front to back (kinda similar to a Cabronita neck that I loved) and the silky smooth satin finish makes it awesome
