NBD: Harley Benton 5 string jazz bass

Thanks for all the nice comments, I’m pretty impressed with the bass the more that I play it. The neck shape is really comfortable for a 5 string, not overly big, but fits the hand nicely, and with the satin finish, it’s smooth sailing. Like I said earlier, I posted this because I wasn’t sure if anyone knew this model existed. It’s just came out last month, and started shipping this week, and ordered it and received it from Germany in a couple of days, super fast shipping. My only gripe is the cost of shipping.

yes, I added the chrome pickup cover, and yes, you are correct, the bass is heavy, but I think it ad’s to the overall tone. I say that because I own a 70’s Fender jazz, and it has an Ash body, very heavy, but great tone, so yes, I think it definitively plays a roll in its tone. Also, I definitely got lucky with the grain on this body. I was concerned about having a three pc body with lines you could see..you definitely roll the dice when buying these basses, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not.
If that is a 3 piece body, it is one of the best ones I've seen. It looks like 1 piece.

The neck was my biggest curiosity on this. I tried a couple HB basses and electric guitars a couple years ago and they all had the big round thick necks with edged corners that reminded me of all the super cheap import necks I remembered from the days of yore. Seems they're a bit better on the carve now?
