It looks less "Violety"(?) in person. This is the website photo from Sweetwater. This is an Ash body with a Spalted Maple top. Something a bit more colorful than my usual Natural or Black basses. It feels so nice to play. The variety of tones from the pickup system is so useful.

That’s a beauty! Very cool color combo. I remember when Lakland announced those months ago. The 44-02 is a great bass! Very versatile and just feels so good to play. Enjoy!

If you want to try flatwounds I would give Ernie Ball Cobalts a try. I used them on my 44-02 and they sound great. Also the purple silks will match perfectly

And when you can, can you post pictures. Would love to see what this looks like in unstaged photos.

I did the flatwounds thing for a brief time with my 44-02. IMO, it puts a blanket over the bass in terms of the full tonal range. I've had the best results with the LH-3 system using DR Sunbeams or the Lakland Custom Wound nickels, both in light gauges. Awesome bass! Enjoy it. I've had mine since 2007 and it's still a joy to play to this day.
