I ordered this Elwood at the beginning of December and received it about two weeks ago.

I've spent the last 2 weeks getting to know this bass and I absolutely love it. I ordered a slightly narrower option for both the nut and the bridge spacing. The combination of short scale and narrower spacing works very well for me at this late stage in life (my hands don't work as well as they used to). I'm very pleased with the playability, tone, and looks of this bass and feel I couldn't touch anything similar in the same price range.

As a passive guy, I am pleasantly surprised by the Delano Sonar 3ms/s preamp. It sounds great and is very intuitive to make quick changes to the sound. I've never gotten along with a traditional P/J, but am very pleased with the sounds available with this preamp/pickup combination. The bass will do anything from a P bass to a jazz bass and even some tones reminiscent of a MusicMan. The preamp features a 3-way mini-toggle switchable mid-range frequency and a passive option that retains the ability to blend pickups and tone control. With the preamp engaged, it sounds somewhat modern, although I believe most would find the sound very usable and pleasant. The low end can be adjusted for a massive sound, though never overwhelming. The passive option sounds as you'd expect - a bit more vintage. Really nice!

The finish is a subtle black burst in nitro. Note the all-black hardware. The pickups are Maruszczyk's own and they sound great! The neck includes a matching headstock, birds-eye maple fingerboard, and roasted, flamed-maple neck.

I haven't weighed the bass yet, but it feels comfortable - I'm guessing it's in the middle-to-upper eight-pound range.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, that looks great!
The pickup combo looks nice, the double J is cool, and that flamed neck looks fantastic.
Great point about the quality of getting a full custom build at less cost than other options.

I have 2 more on order, coming soon in the next month.
