On July 2nd I put in an order for a Maruszczyk Frog. I started playing with the bass configurator (Configurator | Public Peace Customshop) after not being able to find any production models that met my specific requirements. I bought my first fiver three years ago. I’ve never really gelled with it. It sounded good enough, but it was uncomfortable. I’ve never really played any fivers and the ones I did play just never felt good. I took a blind shot on a 32” (down from 35”) after reading about people that made the transition. The other things I wanted: 24 frets, pickups that could be run in single coil or humbucking, 17mm string spacing, and purple. This thing plays like butter and has so much tonal variation. On a suggestion I got a toggle switch for mid range control. I’m really happy and couldn’t recommend ordering from Maruszczyk more. Do make sure to work with a dealer if you live in the states. I worked with Randy at Bass Spotlight. He was able to assist with the process and saved me a bit of scratch.

Gorgeous bass! Maruszczyk does beautiful work. Welcome to the 32" scale club! I just find it the perfect compromise in reach and string tension as my hands get older and a bit less stretchy. I've built two basses tat way, never going back to 34". If there's any sacrifice in tone, I can't hear it. I've tried a few short scales, but the relative "flabbiness" of the strings put me off. That's probably solveable with the right strings, but I just really like 32".
Absolutely all of this. I was kind of just taking a shot in the dark since I wasn’t able to try any. The posts on talkbass were heartening but you just never known until you try it yourself. My Spector NS Pulse II is fine but this is an unbelievable guitar with a fit and sound that I’ve never experienced. I will be ordering at least one more bass from them (a workhorse 4 banger PJ) but that’ll be awhile
I don’t really have much experience with humbuckers outside of my current bass, but these are lively. They also sound great in passive mode. The EMG buckers in my Spector NS Pulse II don’t really have much character. That said I need to work on the bottom end a little. It’s there just unpronounced.
I was seriously considering a headless 32” Frog before I went a different direction. Those are some gorgeous basses. I love the look of those pickups - are they Delanos?

It is tricky, the questions are interlocked in a way that causes the Delanos not to show based on what else, I'm not sure. I was able to get them finally, but it was finicky and took a while.
I'm looking at one of these as I'm also a fan of 32" scale 5 stringers with ~17mm string spacing. Would it be possible to please let me know the weight of your bass, if it is alder, ash, or something else, as well as why you recommend to work with a dealer instead of ordering directly on the website?
Not sure about that, but under "Pickup Combination" choose "Humbucker Set" to get the Delano Xtender HE5/S. That's one "blocker" question anyway.

Bathroom scale method says 9.8 lbs. It’s lighter than my Spector but heavier than the headless multi scale EHB Ibanez I had.
Yeah the other main brand name under that Public Peace.de "umbrella" is Menzinger, a much more German name... they make some beautiful stuff too....
