I didn't know that they still made stack knobs in '62. I used to have a '60 stack knob.

There were both control layouts available in 62, as well as the slab and veneer fingerboards. This, combined with no negative connotations with the year, is the reason why Fender chose 1962 to be the indicative model year for classic Jazz basses. This way they could change out lots of different components and still be considered a '62.

OK, I didn't remember that there was such a choice then. Did the reissue also come with the ashtrays and mutes?

They no longer come with the mutes. Still have the ashtrays though!
