I got this really cool black and maple MTD Kingston Super 4 yesterday from Bass Central. I love the aggressive tone and the neck is very playable. Both body and neck are satin finished with no stickiness. The bass weighs 8 lbs. 10 oz., a nice weight. The workmanship appears to be extremely high quality. I look forward to experimenting with the different pickup settings and the preamp. I don't have a Stingray-style bass so this is a great addition to the collection.

I've never played one before but based on YouTube videos I figured it would work for me.

Here are some shots and a video tribute to the late Jeff Beck.

You are getting fabulous tone out your Super 4. I know you know it is money well spent.

Congratulations! Somehow I missed this on the day of your NBD post. Sounding good, man! I think these Supers are absolute steals when you think about the fact that many kinda-basic MIM Fenders are around the same price!

Don't get me wrong, I also buy some of those MIM Fenders! But I think the Super has some really great innovation in the build and great hardware and electronics. I know some folks "upgrade" the pickups and preamp to the USA stuff, but I am superbly happy with the stock, import guts. I'm not opposed to modding basses and have done it many times, but I don't want to change a thing on my Kingston Super 5. Keep rocking your Super!

Thanks! The electronics sound fine to me and the tuners work well so I see no reason to mod it.
