I just bought an Squier too, that Classic Vibe 50's Precision and i must say, it really erased my terribly experience with the brand 20 years ago. The quality had improved A LOT since, at least in this line. I don't feel it needs any changes for now. Great value for the price.

I do believe you will change your words if you able found a discontinued CIC CV50P, especially the butter scotch one.

As a CIC Squier CV fans, I been own 3 latest Indonesian made CV50P, one sunburnt and 2 blonde, neck stability issue and inconsistent fret wire condition was a nightmare to me..... I can sleep deeply until I found myself an used 2014 Matt Freeman P,

Man that looks gorgeous!
I haven’t even tried a contemporary series bass, but there’s a contemporary telecaster at my local store. It’s incredible. I especially like the satin neck and nicely finished.

On looks alone that's a score. My recollection is that the pickups on those are a higher output ceramic pickup, which can work well on a JB. My experience with newer Squire tuners is that they work fine.

Exactly, ceramic pickups. They sound very “classic” but at the same time they seems to have some spice, beyond the high output.

I love tort, but on this dark red…we’ll, I don’t know…black maybe?

I just looked at the photos again and thought to myself "that would look great with a black guard"and then saw your post.
If changing the tuners I'd probably go with black Y tuners...... and a black bridge..... and black knobs........ yeah, I like black and red.

That’s a great instrument! I have the same bass in ocean blue metallic and I’ve been very pleased with it.

Attracted by the color and the wonderful matching headstock, and also by the price (€260), I order this Squier Contemporary Jazz passive.
I couldn't find a lot of reviews of this bass, everybody talks about the active ones.
But the few videos and reviews I found were all talking of a nice instrument.
I have to admit I never considered Squiers before, I have a couple of Fenders, MIM and MIJ, but a voice inside my GAS told me to give it a try.
The bass is in mint condition, with plastic on the pickguard (and it's from 2018, the only year of production of those I guess. I like the neck profile, the fact that is not glossy, no pointy fret edges, the modern "high mass" bridge. Not sure about the quality of the tuners, we'll see. It's just arrived.
I was considering to change the pickups possibly, but hey! It sounds very well! Very jazzy, a lot better than my '91 MIM Jazz before the pickups upgrade.
I will surely bring it with me to next reharsal with the band...after a string change and a quick setup (action is medium high, I thinks it's never been touched from the factory).

Man, i really don't have complainments about this one, and i have a Jazz Bass MIJ for comparison. It came well packed, with perfectly settled frets (no knifes on the edges), with low action and, believe me or not, almost tuned. Absolutely ready to go. To not say i liked everything, the pickguard could be better alligned.

Tort on a JB should be for white, Lake Placid Blue or relic basses only. I think that an aged white (or parchment or greenish) or an aged white pearl would look best. Any JB will look good with lollipop tuners.

I suppose I'm a little bit dogmatic about pickguards.

Nice!! I have a "thing" for dark red, burgundy, or whatever you call the finish color.

Burgundy is something I drink sometimes, but there you go.
