NBD - My new Skjold Design Guitars Exotic Drakkar 6 String

I am beyond elated to receive my custom Skjold Design Guitars Exotic Drakkar 6 string bass. I will post sound clips in the near future, but for now, some specs and pics. I'm a sucker for highly figured koa and Pete has beyond delivered with this one. An heirloom bass to be sure and an outstanding luthier to work with. I can recommend him w/o hesitation. • Drakkar Exotic Series 6 String
• 33” scale
• 16.5mm spacing, Hipshot Solo Bridge (black & gold)
• Roasted maple neck, narrow
• Macassar ebony fingerboard (black oil dyed), blank w/side dots only
• Evo gold fretwire
• Obeche body (two piece)
• Old growth Koa, single piece, top
• Matching pickup ramp (old growth Koa) made to look like it's been "lifted" from the body
• 2 Skjold dual coil pickups under ramp
• Skjold Tone preamp/electronics
• Matching control knobs (Macassar ebony sides, old growth Koa top, inset)
• Hipshot hardware (black & gold)
• Dunlap Straploks (black)

Mine (Ziricote w/ sapwood and roasted maple neck) arrived this past Monday, so believe me when I say I understand your excitement and satisfaction with Pete's work and communication. Congrats dude!!! Absolutely stunning top and loving the two-tone hardware. Yours has the look of a beautiful copper patina. Pete absolutely killed it on this batch of Drakkars. I've been oggling over the progress of each one with nearly as much anticipation as my own so it's awesome to see them coming together.

Thanks man! Haven't put it down much this weekend. Kept telling myself I was going to record some sound clips but then I'd just get lost in playing and forget all about it. Will try again this week ha ha. I'd love to see your completed build once you've got pics. I saw your process post in the owner's club thread and it looks likes it's going to be amazing.

I'll definitely be recording soon, possibly within the hour. It's crazy how different the Drakkar sounds from my old Skjold Pro Series Deluxe. Very different vibes.

I just went back and checked my case and I guess I didn't get a pin On the flip side, he threw in one of his new braided cables so...

I just went back and checked my case and I guess I didn't get a pin On the flip side, he threw in one of his new braided cables so...

I was unofficially supposed to get a cable and didn't, but this pin is too fly so it's all good

I tried to take an artistic pic with my 2 custom Skjolds recently... will have to do a full family shot sometime.

BTW, I gig the snot out of the 4 string l (4-10 times a month) and it is an absolute tonal monster. I can get anything I need from muffled old school tones to hifi slap and tap tones and everything in between.

Pete is the master.

That is really something. My brother recently acquired a Ken Smith 5 string in beautifully figured koa - it is a sensational wood to see up close. I love the work on the pickup cover you have there.
