Loved the Vintage pro so much: nabbed a NEW ‘64 Epi. Purple sparkle. (849 USD delivered)

*This is a replacement, the first one had several minor flaws and was returned .

Specs Almost identical to the VP. Except the color:

8lbs 6oz
Okoume body wings
9 layer walnut / Okoume neck through
Epiphone 760 TB pickups
Two point “Tune o matic” vintage style with claw tailpiece
Laurel Fretboard.

No mods yet or planned as yet.
Comes with a contoured gig bag and Epiphone stickers, hex tools.
* strung with Gibson Brite wires SS strings from the factory**
After adjusting action and cutting the nut slots a bit deeper flattening the neck, and setting intonation : plugged into living room amp.
Very nice!!
Took it to an open Jam Tuesday night and it performed well.
Gig tomorrow on my own rig.

Other than the Ergonomics? Right up there with any bass I have ever owned. Or built.
For pretty short money all things considered.

Many cut corners to be sure, all addressable if one wishes to step it up even more.

The LOOK!? What is more rock and roll iconography than an instrument designed by a renowned Mid century car designer!?

Much more appealing to ME than one designed by BMW (And named after a drum ;-). )

Yeah : a little more of a Lilac , wish it was more of a “plum crazy” aka in-violet.
Not complaining though!
I love candy colors and metallic/flake.

I have a matching strap, also have a shiny shirt in the same shade.
Now to get some acid washed bell bottoms and leather mod boots to complete the look.
Partially kidding.

Immediately brings to mind a 70s yogurt commercial (that I cannot find)

Mine tastes like purple.

Can’t really say it matters a whole lot about the species , the look!? Just like Rosewood, feel, just like Rosewood- Ergo; other than species bias? ITS ROSEWOOD.

Upgrade to light tuners. - @20 oz
Add @10 oz of tungsten weight in the control cavity.
Dive eliminated.
Bass still under 9lbs

Agree to a degree. The first 64 I got had many flaws, so (as has been Reported elsewhere) the QC is really “liberal”
It was the number of flaws not the severity that made me return it.

This one is really quite good, as is the Indonesian 2019 Vintage Pro I own.
