NBD.......P5 variant

This bout of GAS was brought to me courtesy of Covid, Christmas, my birthday, YOLO, Quanza, Hannukah and 1K other rationalizations........shout out to Maruszczyk for the outstanding instrument they made for me.......unmanageable mouthful of consonants notwithstanding, LOL. I have owned several top shelf brands (USA Sadowsky, USA Lakland, USA Elrick...), and this one is on the exact same level in terms of sound, playability, build quality, fit/finish and attention to detail. The service and communication were excellent, professional, reliable....and the build time was exactly as advertised (8-10 weeks).

I wanted a super light P5. The Fender P body shape isn't very comfy for me. My right arm never seems hang over the top edge in the right place (I usually pluck over the neck pup on my J5, rarely at the bridge). I specified that I wanted it very light and would be OK making the sacrifice of mild neck dive. I ordered the Mopped (Jag shape) model, 34" scale, 19mm spacing, chambered, ultra light hardware, "eye" poplar top, BEM board, Delano Xtender split coils/passive vol/tone. Wow-the end result is joyful. 6.5 lbs (not a typo) with minimal neck dive that's effortlessly tamed while seated with the right forearm and well under control while standing with a wide neoprene strap. It has growl to spare; the Delano Xtender has a lot more clarity up top than a classic P split coil.

Sweet bass! It reminds me of the old Alex Axe basses from back in the 1970's.

I didn't specifically order the binding, but I guess he added it because I asked for 4mm Luminlay side dots....he also threw in (to my surprise) a really sweet, wide leather strap....my guess is he knows it'd dive a bit and truly wanted the most satisfied customer. Towards that end it's really the complete package, right down to the included trio of logo stickers and T-shirt. I am a very satisfied customer

Realistically speaking, we're prolly lookin' at late spring/summer before we can have a bass GTG again, but it'll be even more fun than past ones 'cause we'll appreciate it to the max
