New to me bass day. Well a few days ago.
Missed my last Mercalli so found another. Sold it a few months back and really kind of missed it.
Found one on Reverb that has been modded. Never has seen one with different pickups

It's red FM with the roasted neck. Has dual Nordstand Big Mans each wire in parallel. Also had the bridge changed to a hip shot type A. And last was strung with TI flats. Not sure at this point if I’m a fan of the flats. Like the tone but not the feel.
Was not sure of the mods but bass also came with original p/u’s and bridge. Oh also came with hipshot o-ring knobs.
I rewired the bass with new push/pull volume and tone pots and new MN taper blend. Can now switch pickups series or parallel. Wow! Don’t think I would have modded as I really like the Marcelli’s tone stock. But picked it up this way, why not tinker some more. It’s not the Mercalli tone but will see how it sounds with the band.

My last Mercalli. Wish I would not have let it go.
I have this exact looking bass and it's become by primary one at this point. It's stock and it also has TI flats. For me, that's the tone I want out of this bass. The stock pickups and electronics make it sound a bit dark at times, so the TIs give it a bit more articulation that balances it out. Funny how the right strings for the right bass makes such a difference. Enjoy your return to Revland! Interesting mods.

Peace

I've just got a couple hours playing it since re-wiring. The pickups in series is thunderous. It is definitely not the Rev Merc tone but s it's unique. With the switching and blend options it's a tonal swiss army knife.
I do like the tone of the TI flats but not the feel. Also the action currently is set really low, that could be part of it.

Good luck with all.

Nice score - enjoy it! I got a Mercalli 5 in March, and have been loving it. I had mine set up with DR FatBeams on it, though - my favorite string. Different than flats, for sure, but I'm really digging it, and it has quickly become my main gigging bass at this point. It has a pretty wide range of tones, but they are all big; not a thin sound to be had from that bass!

Nice -- love the red color.
My Mercalli 5 has been my #1 bass for a few years. "not a thin sound to be had" - right on Cleezmo.
I've been wondering about putting in some form of coil switching, but not sure if that's possible with the Rev pickups.
I believe can switch the bridge pickup. I have the original pickups that came with mine. I'll check when I get home but I seem to remember it has 4 wires.

The bridge pickup could be switched.
I did not want to add any additional holes so used push pull pots
