I promised myself this is my last piece for a couple years.
The Reverend Triad 5 in Burnt Orange. I nicknamed it Cheesasorous Rex because it looks like a brick of Cheddar.
This is actually my second Triad, the first was army green and had a ding in the FB so it went back, thankfully too, because the Rosewood FB calmed down the treble and fattened up the lows- absolutely does toan wood matter!
Construction is great, clean binding, solid fretwork, the FB is so polished it reflects your fingers, it's not perfect as there is slight flaws around a couple side dots and a neck pocket that is only as tight as a typical Fender.
The neck is pretty chunky monkey, Like a Warwick or a P-bass, but it's still plenty fast thanks to the 11" radius.
The actual tone is something else, the neck sounds like a P but with a Rick snarl, center is an odd duck, sounds like a Rick but with more midrange, bridge sounds like a bridge, but not overly bright. Bridge Middle is hot, scooped and somehow almost Hi-Fi, Neck middle is wooly and grindy, bridge neck is the money- sounds a bit like a jazz, but with more midrange and hair, almost sounds like my G&L L2500 in parallel, all 3 is very midrangy- and sounds very much like a dual coil humbucker.
This is definitely a unique instrument, doesn't sound like anything I've ever played, very articulate and lends itself to quickly muted notes.
Balance in lap is ok, but it's very comfortable on a strap.
I look forward to Reverend's future, and has me eyeballing the Danish Equivalent Nidhogg (who doesn't want a Drake inlay?)
