WOW! Gorgeous Rick! You lucked out with that one in the looks department. Honestly, most of the W's and SW's look a little plain jane, but the ones with the gorgeous figuring in the walnut and/or maple just transform the instrument IMO.

Here's my SW.

What a coincidence! I was just eye-balling that Ric in the background of the Bunny v Lakland review you just posted to the /r/bass subreddit. That this is lovely.

It does go to center and I can feel the detent but it feels softer going to the neck compared to the bridge.

I've had that problem in the past where it would just flip to the middle by itself. I've taken them apart and look at the switch from the bottom, if you flip it either way the bottom of the plastic thing catches on a bent piece of metal on either side which opens a contact thus taking that pickup out of the circuit, with the switch in the middle both contacts are closed (both pickups on). I have tried bending the bent piece of metal just a tiny bit but it is not the easiest thing to do and it is very easy to bend them a little too much and make the switch move too stiffly. This happened on a 4001 I own after many years though, it would flip back to the middle by itself, it didn't come like that. If it really bothers you maybe contact the place you bought it from but as long as it's not going back to center by itself I would leave it alone. If you do decide to try to fix it be very careful.

Hi guys I just a new Rick which is also my first U.S made bass and I'm pretty excited about it!! So I figured I'd post it and share my experience. I'm use to playing fenders and I've actually only crossed paths with one other 4003 which didn't impress me much but it was also from a music store which sold a lot of "b-stock" items. So I felt compelled and just bought one online didn't even test it out haha crazy I know. But I'm thoroughly impressed maybe listening to roundabout made me get the itch! One thing though if anyone can answer, is the pickup selector suppose to be "fast" when switching from the bridge to neck? It almost flys from bridge to neck passing the center.

I got one of these yesterday...new/mint some guy had from 2015 he didn't play much. I gotta say this bass is one awesome bass, Rickenbacker outdid themselves on this one. I also own a Ric 4003 maple glo but this one has a "MORE" of a ric sound to it. I can't put this thing down. slapped some rotosound 45-105 on it and away we go. only slight issue is I had to file two bone hole slots out just a tad so the strings would fit...I just took a bass string and used it to file down and the slots so strings \would perfect and the bass sound is beyond incredible through the system I run it through :)
