Also, how comes when the 2 pickups are on and on full volume they sound weaker than the two PU's independantly? Does the Rick wiring has some issues?

That will be a phase issue. Dave from Retrovibe should be able to put you right.
If its a phase issue then should I just rewire the wires of the pickup?

It could be a '70s Higain pickup from a 4001/4001s/4005, or an '80s Higain pickup from a 4001, or 4003! The 4001 and 4003, introduced in 1981, were produced in parallel until around 1984 or so.

It's a HiGain and it's from the 70's. Maybe it's off a 4001, anyway, here are some demos!

It's my first post here as I found this thread as I was offered a Rockinbetter for my old Fender JB MIM
I'm attaching a few photos that I'd like you guys to ask for your expertise and see how legit this is as the neck pickup seems different (am totally new in the Ric world but was tempted to try one out and my main bass at the moment is a Japanese Edwards Pbass 58 reissue)
What do you guys think?

I have seen that type of pickup before on a very closely related Faker to the Rockinbetter.
I can't make out from your pics whether it's a through neck. It should have a 3 piece through neck, and the headstock should be straight, not angled. There should also be beveling to the rear of the body on the upper & lower waist.
How much would a second hand Fender MIM Jazz sell for where you are?
At a guess, I would say that the MIM would be worth a bit more, and far easier to sell on than the Rockinbetter. If you went for it, there should be some money for the MIM Jazz as well as the Rockinbetter.
HOWEVER: be warned, that the re-sale value of the Rockinbetter is limited, and there are very, very, very few outlets in which to advertise it for sale, due to Rickenbacker's litigious copyright protection policies. If you buy it, you're keeping it for some time.
Also, Ric's and RickenFakers are not for everybody. A lot of people find them uncomfortable and unwieldy, especially coming from a Fender background. Try it out before you do the deal, see if you can have an extended loan of the bass, and try it in a few different situations. If you don't get on with it, don't do the deal. If you do get on with it, they're great basses, definitely a bit different from the norm.

Thanks for the reply ! Yeah I went through all those threads so that's why I am encouraged to go for it. A Fender JB MIM in here can go around 450 euro and this one was listed at the same price.

I'd guess at it being 'worth' between €350-400, so I'd guess at €25-50 on top of your MIM Jazz (going on UK prices).
Like I said, you would need to give it a good try out before you did a deal, and see if you liked it and importantly, could 'live' with it. Again, if you did go for it, you may well be keeping hold of it for a long time.

Registered there, excellent bunch. It's where I got my custom pickguard from. That Tim Allen guy works wonders.
