I've been looking for a 5 string bass with some sort of split coil pickup (P-bass) for a while. Looked at various PJ basses but nothing caught my eye. I'm not into traditional style basses so the selection was not great. As usual Sago comes to the rescue. While I was not looking to buy another Sago bass since I already have two, Sago always seem to make stuff that fit my needs.

Two weeks ago, this bass popped up on their twitter feed and it went on sale at Ikebe. Done.

After a few days of shipping, it arrived a few days ago.

The bass is typical Sago. The pickups are dual split coils (like P bass pickup) but with a slanted pole piece arrangement. The pickups are put into a Jazzmaster type housing made from flamed maple. Very punchy sound that is different that a J type or humbucker type pickup. The neck is thin and feels a lot like a seven string guitar neck.
