Just got this bass yesterday. It's an amazing instrument. The best low B of any 5 string I've played or owned. It just sounds HUGE. 26 frets and super easy access to the upper frets makes it a great bass for soloing. It's much easier to access the upper frets on this than my JCR or DMark Omega basses.
For ensemble playing this bass just slays. Huge low end without sounding tubby. Great articulation for solos too. Best of both worlds. Comparing this to my 2 JCRs and DMark Omega basses, I can say that there is just something special this bass has that is missing from those other basses. Some of that may be the difference between the bolt-on vs through-neck construction but it's also the unique genius of Skjold's builds. For fingerstyle and slap funk playing and for ensemble playing, this bass is just so much more satisfying to play compared to my high end neck-through basses...
