Yep. Of course with a small amount of simple labor the shop probably could have gotten the $159 asking price, or much closer to it. The average pawn shop customer just sees a "bass that plays badly and the volume cuts in and out" though.

I'll have less than $100 in this bass even after a new set of chromes and new pots.

Them Super Ferrites are awesome pickups...

I know the feeling....so much extra "stuff" just hanging around. IIRC I bought the Super Ferrite for $5 or $10, so I figured "why not" ? Still haven't found a use for it though...maybe someday.

Hahaha, I'm just the same, any time I see something like that, I'll buy it just in case, I've had a jazz pickup floating around without use for like three years now...

Me too. I have an old "Lawsuit" Jazz pickup that I paid like $5 for figuring I might want to use it someday.

Evidently "someday" hasn't arrived yet !

I don't recall Peavey having such a bad reputation back in the 80's . It was always reasonably priced, decent quality stuff. No, it wasn't going to win you any "WOW, look at that rig!" contest, but the stuff always had a reputation of being bullet proof. I seem to recal seeing Some southern Rock Bands with BIG Peavey backlines back in the day as well.

Goodness knows, I've played through enough 25+ year old Peavey workhorse rigs. The stuff always had a rep of being reliable. Never had a rep for being the best tone around though, but servicable, reliable and reasonably priced. Hell, Jerry Reed played a T-60.

And it's sunburst too. I have 5 Foundations, everyone under $150, but not a single sunburst. All I ever seem to find is black or red. $70, great deal.

I bought a bass that was "relicked". Means I paid $20 for it instead of $500.
