NBD - Squier Classic Vibe P Bass

Long time lurker, but I was so excited about my new P bass that I finally got around to joining so I could post about it.

I liked my Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass 70's so much, that I picked up the "matching" Classic Vibe P Bass 70's. I mostly play at Church and these sound good and feel fantastic.

I usually see/hear a "for the money" statement in regards to this line of instruments, but I'll leave that out and just go with they are great all around.

I really loved the neck feel on the Jazz, which is why I brought it home in the first place. Thankfully, the neck feel on P is very similar to the Jazz. The P is slightly wider at the nut, but the only time I notice is if I put one down and then immediately pick the other one up. The biggest difference is the body weight. The P is much lighter than the Jazz. It still feels well balanced (no neck dive), but just easier to handle overall.

I’m really happy with both, and can’t really find anything other than true vintage instruments with the same feel. This last week, I played a 1975 P bass, and it was amazingly close. I’d love to send a thank you note to whoever decided to put these out there at this price point with this build quality.

That Jazz bass looks great! Later this year, i might get one if finances are good and the tax return is ample! ;)In that light, the colour almost looks a faint salmon tint to it, oddly enough...

Just picked up the Classic Vibe P Bass myself- same one you have- and REALLY dug it from the get go.. It was on the used rack looking like new and Ive heard good things about these so I plugged it in and I wasn't disappointed! The neck has a nice radius and a really great feel with the thin frets. Great tone also- Sounds like a gnarly P opened up with full treble, and softens to old school nicely with the bass rolled on..Went through 2 cabs to be sure my ears weren't playing tricks.. Light and totally comfortable. I couldn't resist-and for under 300 Im a big fan. Cant wait to make people say wait, what, is he playing a Squier-(There are those Bass snobs out there) ;-) ENJOY the Bass!

Here is mine, but return it after a week...

Sold the VM77J and get this, it is a NOS , years made 2018, shining fret wire out from box but bridge cover off assembly from factory. Less than 8.5lbs.
Overall build quailty on pair with my CV60P , just the neck are thicker .

My plan is roundwound on it and flat on my CV 60P....... after play with my band, I still prefer the tone from my CV60P personally and GC accept the return.
