Why didn't you just buy a real Fender?
Because a USA Fender of the same specs would cost over FOUR times what this Squier costs. And the Fender is nowhere near FOUR times the guitar that the Squier CVs are.

Why didn't you just buy a real Fender?
Like man... when I bought my Toyota, the next door neighbor was all up in my face about why I didn't buy a Lexus.![]()
Yeah. Right? At least your neighbor didn’t word it as “a real Toyota”.
Looks good so far! Can you post pics of the tuners and neck finish (the two things you were a little disappointed by)?
This is the late 60s jazz bass :Looks good so far! Can you post pics of the tuners and neck finish (the two things you were a little disappointed by)?
Fighting the urge! Love the look. LPB is the perfect J bass color. How does it sound?
yeah , I tried to capture the flakes in the first picture.
and I agree , the laurel board looks gray, but it also looks very dry, which brings out some lighter specks and makes the whole thing look grayer.
And about the nickel vs chrome, I kept wondering why my CV 50s P had different hardware, thinking they came from the same factory LOL! And like you , I liked the 50s so much that Fedex will deliver a second one on Monday.
I finally plugged it in! I wish I could simply say “I have nothing negative to say about it”.
Instead , I choose to say that “it sounds pretty damn good “. According to my wife’s Untrained ear, it sounds better than my jack Cassidy. To me , it simply sounds like a great jazz bass. I thought it would sound fuller than the 50s p , I guess the 50s p has a hotter pickup. The jazz bass has a lot of articulation.

I saw that , I’m getting another lolFYI- Fender has these on sale for $240 today!
I was lucky enough to snag one at the 50%off price.
Looks like the CV late 60s is back in stock for half off.
THANKS!!!! I just got my order in for a second one !!!!!!!!!!!!
I took a look -- seems like a nice bass for the money. I just can't think of a reason why I need another Jazz but if I did I'd grab one too.![]()
