Why didn't you just buy a real Fender?

Because a USA Fender of the same specs would cost over FOUR times what this Squier costs. And the Fender is nowhere near FOUR times the guitar that the Squier CVs are.

This is the late 60s jazz bass :

And these are two pictures of the 50s cv headstock. As you can see , there’s a huge difference:

The precision has a mirror finish with no imperfections, whereas the jazz bass looks maybe not as flat as a matte finish , but definitely not “high gloss “

Fighting the urge! Love the look. LPB is the perfect J bass color. How does it sound?

I finally plugged it in! I wish I could simply say “I have nothing negative to say about it”.

Instead , I choose to say that “it sounds pretty damn good “. According to my wife’s Untrained ear, it sounds better than my jack Cassidy. To me , it simply sounds like a great jazz bass. I thought it would sound fuller than the 50s p , I guess the 50s p has a hotter pickup. The jazz bass has a lot of articulation.

yeah , I tried to capture the flakes in the first picture.

and I agree , the laurel board looks gray, but it also looks very dry, which brings out some lighter specks and makes the whole thing look grayer.

And about the nickel vs chrome, I kept wondering why my CV 50s P had different hardware, thinking they came from the same factory LOL! And like you , I liked the 50s so much that Fedex will deliver a second one on Monday.

Sadly all 3 Indo CV50P I been own previously has hardware,pot , weird E string dead spot issue, the most disappointing me is uneven fret issue on my low action setup (even fret leveling done, some fret will start cause fret buzz after few months....) . Never meet this panic issue on my single CIC CV bass.

Since I really miss the greatness of my previous CIC CV60P, I found a Fender Vintera 50 precision bass as replacement which has similar build quality as CIC CV60P, and I love vintage fret more than vintage tall fret (actually just same fret you can found on Ibanez and Cort bass). Low action setup with zero buzz with both LTF4A and Ti flat.

The Fender Japan traditional 50 p bass are in my radar currently....

2022 Indo CV Vs 2008 CIC CV.
USD 499 Vs USD 299.
Overall build quality are lack behind compare to CIC CV line.

2008 CIC CV build quality able matching to current 2022 Vintera bass I own .

I'm with Yahboy, my 2013 '60s CV Jazz is stunning. A world away from the Indonesian CVs. Dark fingerboard (looks like rosewood), hi-mass bridge with brass saddles, bone nut, vintage frets (not vintage tall) and the fit and finish is equal to any Fender at all, except maybe a Custom Shop. I will never sell this bass.

Yes, I would have liked to have got the red 40th anniversary one for that price. I liked the blue though and could not resist at that price. Plus, I am a sucker for a blocked and bound neck.

I took a look -- seems like a nice bass for the money. I just can't think of a reason why I need another Jazz but if I did I'd grab one too.

I'm feeling the same way! It's a killer deal, but it would never stack up to my Custom Shop so I probably wouldn't play it much!
