Well, that Cort C4 Deluxe I got... It's a great bass, but after trying it out for a week or so, I realized I just can't handle long-scale instruments, so back it went.

And then this one popped up on Reverb, one of the first-gen Sterling short scales with a vintage sunburst finish, brand new but with minor blemishes, on sale. It just arrived yesterday.

It's lovely. I really should have just got one of these to start with.

I have a set of Hipshot USA tuners coming; I think that's the only mod I'll make to it. No fret sprout, balances well, feels solid.

Oh yeah! (Hi!) Well, I’ll see how I get on with it as-is before I do anything else to it, especially anything irreversible.

Down the road I might get another and experiment with using Babicz solo rail bridges for slightly tighter spacing, esp if I do a fretless conversion. There wouldn’t be room to use a Kahler bridge on this one, I think. That said the simplest adjustment would be to make new saddles from blanks.
