NBD: SX Acoustic Electric

Actually I got it yesterday, but didn't take pictures until today. Anyways, this thing looks great, plays well, and sounds even better. The volume is fairly good unplugged.

A couple issues: it feedbacks like crazy! This is probably true of most ABG's, but its tough to be plugged in and in the same room as your amp. Also, it does play well, although there is slight buzz on the A string, but only when you dig in hard.

On the website it's called a "Burtha" but I refuse to call it that. It was $270, almost 300 shipped.

Here are some pics:

It's not, its about average size for an acoustic bass.

And the piezo just crapped out on the G string, now it has much less volume than the rest oddly. I emailed Kurt, so hopefully this will be taken care off. No sound clips yet, obviously.

I own one of these basses, I have had numerous problems with it, firstly when i got it in January the strings were in a very poor condition, I had to pay £20 to replace them. secondly when i bought these new strings i couldn't put 2 of them on because there was a problem with a couple of the tuning pegs (£40 to replace them!). lastly i have played this bass live through a PA system a few times and the buzzing that it made was dreadful (i don't know if thats the fretboard or the action or the electrics or whatever). i highly recommend to anyone thinking about buying this bass that they should keep saving up and buy something that is playable live and doesn't have a list of problems as long as your arm!

i will say one good thing about it though, i fell over on to a stone step with the guitar in my hands and i was expecting the damage to be devestating, however there are only a few scrapes - this bass will take a fair deal of punishment (for an acoustic), but don't go about smashing it off walls!
