Good afternoon Talkbassers,
When I saw this for sale online, I could not help picking it up, I heard so much hype about these basses and have never actually played one.
I got me a crafted in China CV precision bass in Fiesta red! I've owned vintage modified, 2020 CV, Chris Aiken signature (made in Indonesia), Fender players, CV 70s 2019, Fender standard, Fender American Standard, Squier SQ series, and a couple lawsuit basses. So I've had my fair share if p basses.
This one came in almost new condition and set up great with flat wound strings. It is well balanced and is light but not too light.
I paid a pretty penny for it, however a bit less then I would have paid for a brand new CV.
My initial thoughts?
The hype is real! It helps that the set up is done well, as many CVs in store are set up like crap. Does it blow the new CVs out of the water? Not really (in my opinion). However, it is a beautiful instrument. I am not sure why Fender can't come up with more designs like this and the inca silver Jazz bass. The new CVs look so boring in comparison.
I will be get GHS boomers for this and will be doing an A and B recording of this and a Fiesta Red American Standard from 2001 to compare the sound. Stay tuned.
