My son is visiting from Florida, and we decided to hit a used gear spot we have been frequenting since he was 7 or so. He is in his late 20s now.

Atomic Music in Beltsville, MD. Since it is a 2-hour drive now, I figured why waste a trip, so I brought this home.

Have not owned a MusicMan for a good while, and wanted something different.

Congrats, beautiful bass.

Atomic is great, I just wish they'd take the time to do a basic setup on the instruments they have on the showroom floor. Went to check out that Fender HM that they've had for awhile and it was more or less impossible to tell how it would play IRL because the setup was jacked.

So what did your son get? Or did he just watch you?
He is a drummer.

He got a 20-inch Zildjian A crash cymbal.

Bundled the bass/cymbal deal and they gave great pricing on both. I like that they always have good wiggle-room on their sticker prices.

Pic of junior about the age he started visiting Atomic, and him hamming it up singing now.

He can play bass, drums and sing, the kid is better than dad at everything…

I saw that bass there, recently. I've already got an HH Stingray 5, but it looked cool even if I'm not much of a gold hardware kind of guy. If it had been an unlined fretless, I would have paid it more attention. Hope it's an amazing bass for you. The simple, classic white with white pickguard and pickup cover looks great. Hope your new friend becomes an old friend.

I’m a fretless fan too. The bass I got previous to this was a black Kubicki Exfactor fretless. That is just plain fun to play, also have a de-fretted Fender Jazz strung with nylons that has just the right “mmmmwaaaa” sound.

(For the no pic no bass crowd.)

I always liked those Kubicki Factors. Not easy to find back in the day, although I knew a guy who had one and I think I may have plucked it for a few seconds, acoustically. I like them now but I have two fretless 4-strings and even if I can find one now, I certainly don't need another fretless 4-string. Cool bass.
