NBD: Warwick Star II Fretless

I've been watching this bass go up for sale on eBay for 3 years now. Bid on it many times before, made offers but we could never get together on a price. Months later it would reappear at a slightly lower price. Well, finally snagged it at the right price when they got tired of owning it. Thank you Cream City!
It's a 2008 German made fretless and it sounds and plays like a dream come true. Listed as used but came with the warranty cards and not a scratch or mark on it. Flats need replacing - haven't decided which way to go yet, maybe because what's on it still sounds so good. I just can't get use to playing on four year old strings.
Being fretless there is only a small change between pups used but I'm sure once I start digging in the differences will widen.
My Rob Allen is crying foul as it knows it may land up on the classifieds soon. Keep you posted on that note.

I have been very interested in this bass since I first laid my eyes/ears on it.

I am sure it was worth the wait!

This statement somehow got me confused.. I have heard this bass in several reviews, and having passive old-style single coils in typical placement, I am sure you will find 2 VERY distinctive tones per pickup.

The bridge will give you a more tight and "Muaahh" sound, and the neck should provide a more P-girthy sound, less muah, more lows.

Of course this can be accentuated by how you approach the instrument with your playing style, but after a while playing with it you will probably see that the "fretless" statement did not make much sense.. I have found that fretless basses can be as versatile (if not more) as fretted in regards to pickups.

Enjoy this great instrument! and please let us know if you have any complaints or additional comments after playing it for some time!!
