NBD - Why does this keep happening?

Today is my off day, no work, no practice, no gig, the drummer and myself are going to go listen to another band tonight. So today I was doing an inventory of gear such as cables and what not and decided to go buy two XLR cables, and nothing else, I swear. I even went to a local music store that specializes in guitars, not basses.

• 1) They're locally owned and I like to give them business when I can.
• 2) There's not anything there bass relatedly hardly for me to drool over.

You can walk in and there will be 60 guitars hanging around the wall, but 3 to 5 basses at the most. Today they only had two.

So meet bass #7 and my sixth bass since Aug of 2018, my first all Jazz pup bass, and my first 5 string. It was marked at $249, I got it for $200.

2000 Peavey Millennium BXP 5

The neck feels as good as anything I have ever held and I can't get how easy this thing is to play regardless of what my brain thought it would be like to add another string. The sound is phenomenal. String spacing is taking a little getting used too, but overall my brain and fingers are coming around to it. I've been sitting here for an hour playing on Hendrix stuff that will let me go below an E and it's like wow, it's all right there but I'm still in standard tuning. How can this be? Why did I wait so long to do this?

It is low, very low. Wouldn't hurt for it to come up just a touch. But I've decided to leave it alone for now and just play it. Same for the strings themselves. It's got rounds which I got away from about this time last year. Everything I play has flats, but the sound on this bass doesn't need anything done to it. If it's not broke don't fix it. Problem now is when I do finally replace them is what brand of rounds do I go to? They're not D'Addario. Might try out some GHS pressure wounds. Don't know, will worry about it when that time comes.

Nice bass congrats! I recently bought a Millennium AC 5 BXP and it amazes me how nice it is for what I paid for it. It's not gonna knock off my L2500 anytime soon but it really is a nice bass. Sets up real low as well.

Have fun and beware, I've bought 2 more US Peaveys since then, a Millennium Plus and a G Bass. It's like eating popcorn!

I'm just going to have stop going to music stores when I need things like strings, straps, cords, mic stands, etc... and order that stuff online.
