The third bass I've ever owned, came from a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz, to an Ibanez SR375. This is the Natural Satin finish, alder with maple top. Got a sweet deal on it from an eBay user, literally new. And oh that new bass smell is great. Very excited to finally get back into my regular practice!!

I'm terrible at describing bass tones. It sounds good both in active/passive. Active has a more punchy "active" sound. Passive is less punchy in the mids than active only by a bit. It has a nice round bottom end. When slapping the high end is there, but not like a sparkle like a Sire M7. You can bring it with a slight boost in the highs. The EQ is actually very very usable, both bass mids and highs. The only thing that I'd like to change about the EQ, is where it's mid frequency is centered, I'd want it a bit higher. But I can remedy that with panning to the bridge pickup a bit.. It definitely isn't upper mids, closer to the lower mids.

These are the stock strings though (Daddario EXLs 45-130) which many claim make the bass sound bland, I'll be in like for a string change in a couple weeks and I'll see how it sounds then. I'm tuned to Bb standard currently btw.
