a new to me !!! squier vintage modified 70’s jazz bass !!! 4 string version ...
i traded another bass for it , so far so good !!! only changed the strings and the pickguard just to get a different look !!!

I like the white pickguard better. These are amazingly good basses for the money, and are great axes to hot-rod as everyone makes pickups, electronics, bridges, whatever you want to fit Fender-pattern instruments. Like all Fenders, THIS one can vary slightly from THAT one, so always double check your measurements for fitments, and have at it . . . . . but generally, these are just fine 'as is'.

If the pickups are anything like the 5-string version of the VM70s Jazz I would keep them stock. The ones in my VM70s 5-string are incredible! Very snappy and aggressive. A LOT better then the stock "Fender Designed" ones in my regular 4-string "non-70s" VM Jazz. I ended up replacing the pickups in the "regular" VM but I've kept the ones in the VM70s. They're BRUTAL!!

Of course, if you're looking for a smoother sound there might be better options...

Wow! It’s amazing how much change a pickguard offers. I’ve toyed with getting one for my VM Fretless Jazz. Congrats on the NBD!

i already had a 5 string version of it , after a couple of years with it i added the tort guard the quarter pound pickups and audere preamp , so far the 4 string sound and feels right !!! no real upgrades in the near future !!! but there is def a lot that i could do if i go that route !!!
