Recently got this Harley Benton PB-50, I find it amazing that you can get a bass like this for $144 (CAD). I did get a custom Chandler music (pickguard planet) pick guard made for it. Haven't even done a setup yet although it came with a pretty decent one

Maybe just check and properly shield the cavity....I have some basses with pretty amazing sounding cheapy pickups after I shied the cavity. You might be surprised.

I think its just the nature of that single coil pickup... it's really not bad and the bass actually sounds good.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a angry sounding , humming single coil.
