Double Bass Near miss..

I nearly flattened one of my fingers yesterday, assembling a fold up table for a party...that same evening I was scheduled to play an opening concert.
That got my thinking - prior to a concert, are you particularly concerned about any physical activity that could potentially harm your fingers / arms? Have you ever been prevented from a performance because of something that happened within a few hours of preparing for it?

Regards to all

The worst thing I've had happen was in high school when I sliced pretty deep into my left index finger while working my weekend job as a prep cook. I had a college audition coming up a day or two later and had to email them to reschedule--thankfully, it was a local school who were familiar with me already and they were very accommodating. I had a similar incident happen maybe a year before that with my left thumb but I just had to sit out of a rehearsal that was planned a few hours later, no concert that day or anytime immediately after.

I've often had to be involved in setting up tables/risers etc in preparation for concerts for the camp I teach at in the summers. Never worried too much, but since everyone doing set up were also musicians I'd like to think we were pretty deliberate in assembling anything that had the potential to squish/cut/pinch anybody's hands badly. Never had any mishaps there.

I've mashed fingers a couple times, loading in but nothing major. Once I had a splinter from the stage under a right fingernail, and another time during an outdoor show I got a large thorn stuck in the pad of my left ring finger. Both of those were during setup and made playing a challenge, but I made it. I try to be cautious of my pre performance surroundings, but strange things can happen.
