Neck screws not screwing into neck

A while back I had to take off the neck to the bass that I'm currently building, and when I went to put it back on today, the screws go all the way in, but don't actually screw into the wood, I'm assuming because I accidentally drilled the holes too long. Is there an easier fix for this than having to fill in the holes with dowels and having to redrill them?

Nope, you'll need to fill them, or fit threaded inserts I'm sorry. Its not that you drilled them too deep, but too wide

It's not that difficult. Or you can insert toothpicks with a little wood glue. Works like a charm. Good Luck!!

Threaded inserts. Sooooo much better for so many reasons.

Before I did any repair work I'd try a larger diameter screw so the threads can catch the edge of the hole.

You can't use toothpicks or brass inserts.......that would change your "tone".

There's a lot of them on eBay sold with neck plate screws for basses/guitars.

www.rockler.com. Part number 33209, 8/32 machine threads. Stainless machine screws of varying lengths available at your local home improvement store.
