neck thru basses

If you want an inexpensive neckthru, you may want to consider Dave Pushic (DP Custom). There are other small volume luthiers who make decently priced neck-thrus. I have a 5-string that Jake Marchlewski made for me in 2004. He's recently gotten back into building basses and is worth a look-see.

Also, Pete Hanewinckel does some xlnt neck-thru work. Carvin was also mentioned. Probably the best bang for the buck you can get wrt a quality neck-thru would be a used Peavey Cirrus.

A couple of more preferences would be an unlined ebony fretless fingerboard, 2X2 headstock and I am a huge fan of small headstocks a'la danelectro or similar.
Also I prefer a single mag pickup or a piezo bridge.
Simple with a wide tonal range is what I prefer. Also under 8 lbs if possible. shorter scale would be fine as well, anything from 30 to 34 would work for me.
I would like to have good access to the 24th fret if possible.
