I would be remiss if I didn't bring this product to your attention.
I'm a college student, and I have to travel from Los Angeles to Rochester, NY on a frequent basis. I sometimes want to bring my bass along.
The first time, I used a standard fender hardshell and was scared to death about what would happen. My bass survived, but the case got badly beaten. Chips, holes, etc. So I looked into a flight case. Most of them cost upwards of $250 and I simply did not have that much scratch.
But as anyone who has an SX knows, Rondo has some sweet stuff for fairly little green, and I saw they had Link Removed. So I bought it to protect my investment.
It is simply the best $100 I've ever spent on my bass. It's as fully functional as more expensive flight cases, and I never worry anymore about keeping my bass safe on cross country journeys. I had been meaning to advertise this thing on TalkBass for a while, but only recently after traveling again did I remember to.
So if you're flying with your bass and you don't have a good flight case yet, please look into this. Hell, I'd even recommend it for regular gig shuffling. (Just wrap a generous amount of duct tape around the handle - it's a little thin and hurts your hand if you carry it for a while, but the tape will bulk it up).
