Need a good combo for around 500$

I currently have an Ampeg Svt-4Pro w/ an Ampeg Svt410HLF

i realize i dont need that big of a setup, so i'm looking to downsize my rig into a combo, heres what i've looked into, but if you have anyother suggestions let me know please

Fender Rumble 100/210
SWR WorkingPro 12
Ampeg BA115
NemisisN28S Silver

i'm sure there are others out there for around this price

i play rock, metal, jazz, country....so i need an all around good amp! thanks

ps i'm selling my ampeg rig for 1100 ..pm me for more info on that

I had an Ampeg BA210 for a while that fit in that $ range (bought used). I really liked it, the 2 10's provided plenty of bottom and the mids were awe-mazing. Not a bad little unit for 220 w. There's a version of that combo with digital built-in effects, but that'll run you more $. The only downside was that it was a little heavy.
I also briefly had a Yorkville XS400C with a 15 in it. That there's a loud 400w. Heavy too. Pretty loud, a bit boomy - not as clear as the BA210 IMO.
Good luck :bassist: .

Yorkville Sound makes a 200 watt combo that sounds very good and should come in at the price you want. I used one for a year and it was loud, got good sounds and was very reliable. It's available in a 2X10 or 1X15 format.

I've had my Carvin pb200-15 for about 8 years. I've played it every week since then. Has a compressor, noise gate, and 160 watts. $350 direct from Carvin. Mine was $399 when I got it.

My daughter has one of those, and I agree it works pretty good rehearsal, practice and small coffee house type gigs.

I have a Roland DB 700 combo that I use alot. A 15 with a tweeter, great compressor, amp modeling, and a host of other features. 275 watts. You can find them used on Ebay for around your price range. It also has memory functions so if you want a certain sound, you can program it into a memory bank and call it up when you want. The only mod I did was to swap out the generic 15 with a JBL E140. Made a big difference in the sound, but that's just my personal preference.

I don't know whether you intend to play gigs, but my usual recommendation is the Roland Cube 100. I think it's vastly superior to the Fender Bassman 150 and Eden N12S combos I compared it to in the shop. (If you run a search, you'll find my lengthy review, which I should post in the gear reviews.) It's an amazing piece of gear.

But if you plan to gig with your combo without PA support, you may want to move more air, so an Ampeg 1x15 or G-K Backline 115 might be better. I think Bass Northwest is selling some Ampeg demos with the upgraded 220 watts in their "Special Deals" section: www.bassnw.com.

I just bought the Line 6 Lowdown LD150. It has one 12" and is 150w. It's small, light, has the tilt back feature and some fun little effects.

Having never played with effects on my previous rig (years ago. I'm just getting back into playing and have to get new gear as I sold my behemoth Ampeg SVT and 8x10 cab) having these little toys is nice to mess around with. I'm just using it at home right now so I don't have any band practice or live experience with it. I doubt it'll keep up with a loud, heavy band but I didn't want to dump a bunch of money down since I'm just getting back into playing and don't know how serious I'll get about playing out. If it can't cut it volume-wise then this will be my practice amp for home.

As for the tones, I like it thus far. Though I'm kind of aloof when it comes to tone.

Line 6 also has a 175w and a 300w combo. I think the store where I bought mine was selling the 175w for about $500 (typing this, that price now seems kinda high). Though me and the store guy couldn't get the 175w to make any sound. A dud? Probably a sign I should have paid attention to. We'll see how mine holds up after I haul it around for a while.

+1

I have been very satisfied by carvin amplification. The PB200 is great. I am currently using the BRX 212.....IMHO you can't go wrong with the Carvin
