Need A Mixer - Questions

I have a unique situation that has no musical instruments at all - but several mics and a CD-input to control.

Right now I have 6-mics, and 2 are wireless-rovers to control.

The problem right now is that the amp is being used to control the mic levels and the 2-rover/wireless mic pots on the amp are wearing out and I feel that I should add a control panel to the system.

OK - here's the layout:

2 - Rover/Wireless mics with their own receiver that is going IN to 2-separate channels on the PA Amp. This is the biggest problem.

1 - Podium mic that is currently working.

2 - Mics off to stage left with a discussion table - working well right now.

1 - Mic on stage right that is also working now.

1 - CD-INPUT which is also working well now.​

So - I have 6 mics total, with those 2 wireless being rovers.

I am looking at this Mackie unit:

The reason I want this is for the soft-mute buttons that can be pushed ON/OFF and do so silently to bring up the rovers.

All mics will need minor VOL adjustments from time to time, but the rovers are much more so during QUESTION & ANSWER sessions with the audience.

I just want to take the load off the EQ pots on the amp and put it where it belongs on that mixer.

Does this Mackie Mixer look like it's up to the job?

You should find a mixer with 6 XLR inputs. That mixer only has 3 XLR channels. The rest are stereo inputs, which isn't what you want. If that is all you had, you could use the balance knob on the stereo channels to adjust volumes between the two inputs, but you will have to use the 1/4" inputs on channels 3-8 and most Mics have XLRs.

Good point - do I also keep looking for a mixer with those soft MUTE switches?
