hey fellas, this is my first post. I did a search and checked out the newbie thread, but i didnt find much that helped.
so anyways, i've been playing some no-name four-string i got for cheap for a couple of years, and it's time to move on. i find that the instruments sound is horrible, and i can't make the slap noise on it, which is something i want to start doing. I've done it on my buddies bass no problem, but he was saying that his bass was made for that. anyways, what i'm wondering is what companies should I be checking out when looking for a bass? I would like a fairly versatile one, that is, one i can slap and also still play normally.
