Need advice budget 5 string bass for gospel & jazz.

Need advices which is better?

Do you want a new bass or would you take a used bass? New, I think the Squier makes several Jazzes, a Jaguar V, and even the Precision VM V, that can be had for between $200-$330. I have noticed that Schecter Diamond P5 are on sale at the Schecter website for about $367. The Schecter is a whole lot of bass for the money. My favorite used basses are older USA Peaveys, especially Millenniums, and old Yamaha BB series basses.

I need new bass, and fo reference I like lakland skyline 55-02 sound character. I like more modern bass sound character, which has great low b sound too.

For squire I already have it, yes it's nice bass for budget. But I need something better.

For $500 you have quite a few modern sounding basses eg.Squier Deluxe Jazz V, Yamaha Trbx305,Sterling musicman Sub4 and Sub5. all of the aforementioned basses are active modern sounding instruments that can be used for all musical genres with $$ left over for cables strings gigbags and whatnots. All can be had new. Good luck with your search. Also ESP LTD's are available too.

$500 is a good budget. Even if you must have new. Cort would be the last thing on my mind. Look at a Peavey or Squier. They both have some nice basses that will also give you the "look" for church. If the look is no biggie you can bring a lot more brands into consideration in that price point.

You can also score some very nice used Carvins in that price range - much to the chagrin of new Carvin buyers, they don't have quite the resale cachet that some other brands do - bad news for sellers, good news for buyers. I agree, tons of options in that range.

For that budget, with that music in mind, I'd look for a used Spector 5. I happen to really like the Korean neck through ones. They sell for 400-600ish. That, or a cirrus bxp. US made cirrus too, but you aren't likely to find one in your price range.

New? That Sire jazz has my attention.

Sorry to revive this thread. I am currently in the same state as Threadstarter of choosing between Cort GB5-custom & A5. Which one is preferable? The Sire's Marcus Miller looks great but I do not know if they are available in where I am staying.

How can we tell you if it's available if we don't know where you are?

What I can tell you is the Marcus Miller by Sire basses have been getting a lot of excellent feedback. Purchasers have been getting them from both the Sire main website (where it comes with a gig bag fitted for the slightly-larger-than-normal V7) and Thomann Musikhaus (whether they're in Europe or the U.S., due to the current equity between the U.S. Dollar and the Euro…they don't include the gig bag).

Stayed in Singapore. They don't have distributor for Sire here last time I checked in Sire website. V7 actually piques my interest as my next bass but I think I have to wait for the bass to be brought over here.

Have you checked to see if Thomann will ship to Singapore?

EDIT: It's also worth noting that you won't have to pay VAT (Value Added Tax) when buying from outside the UK, in case you bring up Thomann's UK site.

EDIT #2: Just to satisfy my own curiosity, I checked to see if they'll ship to Singapore and how much the total cost would be. It comes to €410.50, with shipping included.

Let me double check that. Last time I checked in Sire website, I think they did not provide shipment to Singapore. And €410.50 for V7? Swamp ash body?
