NEED ADVICE ON REPLACEMENT DRIVERS FOR AN EDEN 210 XLT

So, I guess I don't really need to get into it, but a while back I blew my brand new Eden 210XLT. I'm sick of waiting for Eden to get back to me, and I want some new speakers to put in this sweet box that sits in the corner. It's a 4 ohm, 350 watt cab. I want to make it an 8 ohm cab, that can handle at least 350 watts. I love that Eden tone, their 10's have great low end. I've heard good things about Eminence. Does JBL make 10'' bass speakers? Basically, I need 2, 10" drivers that can take a good kick in the ass and sing like angels at the same time. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Not sure of all the specs that will come into play not going back to your stock Eden drivers but....

A few years ago one of my first purchases on TB was a Eden D210T cab that TBer had pulled the stock drivers out of and installed the 2510's into it. Agian, not sure what all may be affected by not using OEM drivers but I keep this little cab at our practice space. It is now a 4 ohm, 500 watt 210 cab.

And man it sounds pretty fantastic and I only use 5 string basses. I either run a LMII or F1 head into it and we can get pretty loud at rehearsal sometimes in a pretty large playroom.

I actually also later bought a stock Eden 210XLT here on TB later on. It was a 8 ohm, 350 watts, darn heavy cab. That XLT cab is now gone and I still get alota use out of this louder, lighter D210T cab. Wish I woulda converted the XLT cab with same Em drivers, mighta kept it. My .02 here.

I looked into this last year. There is ONE 16ohm Eden replacement driver, the EC1060XS16 16OHM 10” XST. Check out alphaaudioworks.com. Ask for Andy.

If you want the same sound back, get your drivers reconed. Otherwise not much out there as far as stock 4 or 16 ohm 10's. Celestions green label line might have one. They're about the only thing from Celestion I'd put in a bass cab. Otherwise I'd I'd put a pair of emi. Basslite s2010's in there and have wiring options of 4 or 16ohms for the cab (8ohm drivers). And don't get hung up on the watts, displacement is what makes bass. Deltalites will have a bit more mid response if you want that. Most 210's are nearly all the same size so the cab volume isn't a big deal, it would be a good idea to figure out the tuning, just to see it isn't out of whack for some of these replacements.

The deltas don't have the excursion (xmax) of a lot of other bass drivers. Means they'll fart out earlier regardless of the watt rating. You might get loud enough before that happens using 4 of them, but I wouldn't put them in a 210 bass cab. I do use them in vocal monitor wedges and they work great there. Better upper response than some bass drivers and of course, the lows are a non-issue with vocals.

My recollection from modeling most eden cabs is that they tend to be tuned quite high.

I suspect Basslites would be your best bet. They want a higher tuning than Deltalites and are a bit more tolerant of enclosure size.

The details are foggy bit I think you're right. I once used some Eden drivers out of a Nemesis 410 in a 210 I built. IIRC, the cab they came out of was tuned up around 60hz. Putting them in a little more box and tuning it to 40 took the "Eden sound" right out of them and made for a pretty nice, smooth sounding little cab. That would be the N410/D410 series from before they came out with the XLT's. Speakers were 16ohm Eden model # 1032.

I replaced the 10's in SuperRedHead after hitting the TurboBass and cranking the v knob. I went with the Eminence and yanked tham fast. I then hunted down PAS and ordered their OEM replacment drivers.

They can look the same, have the same cones but there's a lot to getting the right speaker for any enclosure. I would wait and get the edens. Unless you have time and money to expirement. This is one area where the skinny strings have a big advantage. I've never had any decent speaker, even a pyle driver, sound THAT bad in an open back cab that I would yank it ASAP.

I contacted EDEN a while ago regarding a replacement for my CXC110 and was told that the "Eminence BP102" was their replacement, so I bought one. I play my old Fender bass, an active MTD 635 without any issues. I thought that I would lose the upper range clarity of the MTD, but found that it was clear and punchy with the BP102. Happy boy!
My application is a little different than many since I use my CXC110 more as a monitor and use the DI send of the amp to the FOH board. JMHO.
