need advice to replace cort evl z6b strings

hi all...
I'm from Indonesia
I have Cort EVL Z6B electric bass, and I found out I need to replace the string
Unfortunately, i can not found the exact brand and type of string except D'Addario EXL165SL (as recommended by the Cort)
D'Addario EXL165SL alsa discontnued (many store in my country said that)
Can anybody in this forum suggest me, what kind of brand and type bass strings that can replace D'Addario EXL165SL
(Invalid Link Removed)

Thank You

Hi,
I am also lived in Indonesia and using Cort EVL Z6B
FYI, D'Addario EXL165SL is discontinued from market (the distributor is MG music)
Actually, you could use other gauge, the closest one is D'Addario EXL170SL (ask MG music) which is seems almost discontinued also (at least, I already calling all MG showroom in Jakarta many times and always get answer: empty stock, but the store keeper said they are already asking stock for long time)
Other gauge which more often seen in MG music is EXL220SL. I have already used it once. Since it is light tension gauge, so the sound shall become brighter.
Other brand that I get informed by a seller in Wijaya Musik is Dean Markley, they said that these strings are fit up to 36" scale (I know EVL Z6B scale is 34" but the string-thru make it need longer string scale).
However, you could also try some strings with normal wound (non-tapered wound). Cheap string brand such as Top Strings are non-tapered one, and sometimes I use it.
And the last, you could use usual string such as D'Addario EXL170 or RotoBass 45 which same gauge as D'Addario EXL165SL. The problem is their tapered wound will be rest in 1st fret, so you might hear buzzing on lower fret. Therefore, you could put cotton in your nut below your string, to make the string rest higher in the nut.

Cheers,
GBU

D'Addario EXL165SL Nickel Wound Bass, Custom Light, 45-105, Super Long Scale
String Gauges: Wound .045, .065, .085, .105

Cort EVL-Z6B Bass Guitar
FINGERBOARD Ebony, 15 3/4" Radius(400mm)
FRET 22 / Large (2.7mm)
SCALE 34" (864mm)
BRIDGE HZ4B bridge w/ string thru body

yerterday I found that the string must be as long as 103 cm for the minimum (from bridge thru body to the tuner)
I'm being frustrate right now, searching through popular brand like DeanMarkley, RotoSound, GHS, etc there is no information about the exact long of the strings

anybody can help me here ???

Gents - just so you know, the set you're looking for has not been discontinued. I'm trying to find out why you're not able to get this set. We have a new regional sales manager so I'm not sure if he's ready to handle an issue like this but let me see what I can find out for you in this regard.
