Need Help From MTD Artist Players

Hello,

I play the older, passive version of kingston artist. I play almost anything from jazz, funk, to praise music. being passive, I found some limitation on tonal variation but not much. But i'm sure the active Artist is much more versatile.

Check out the non-USA MTD club forum. I'm sure you'll find more posts there.

I have an Artist 4, an Artist 5 and recently a KZX 5. The single pickup Artist 5 sounds great and is my favorite (although the aqua green color is not). The Artist 4 is very midrange focused. THe KZX 5 is somewhat polite (has Barts). I also have a 5 string Stingray HH and 2 Stingray 4's. I actually enjoy the tone of the Artist 5 more. It cuts, but still has a nice low end.

I have used an old passive Heir 5.
It was very nice, had some (hum) noise in the single coil neck pickup but clean in the Humbucker. I felt not much limitation.
You can sculpt your sound with a outboard preamp and with your hand positioning while playing. An outboard pre can help a lot to get extra punch when need it.
