Need Help Planning Purchases

So, I got some money in my pocket (a few hundred, nothing crazy), and I’ve made a goal for the next year to transcribe a bunch of songs I want to learn and after that year, record my own basslines over some carefully sequenced backing tracks, with melodic solos, drum fills, etc.

I have a bunch of utility and effect pedals that I want to buy, and probably should buy to get cool tones and decent quality recordings, but every few hours I seem to change my mind as to what I want next, or even what I want at all.

I also keep bouncing around the idea of getting another melodic instrument to record with as well, despite me only wanting to really worry about recording the bassline.

Basically, I can’t seem to settle down and come up with purchasing plan.

I could list all of the pedals I want and things I’m thinking of, but I don’t think that will really help...

What I’m really curious about is, how would you prioritize what to buy in this situation?

For what it’s worth, I’ll be recording directly into my laptop USB interface, and Audacity.
