Need help replacing preamp tube in SWR 750x!

My SWR 750x's volume has decreased significantly as of late and I think its because of the preamp tube going bad. I bought a replacement tube today, but I cant figure out how to get the old tube out. There is a metal bracket around the tube and I think that has something to do with it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I can try taking a picture of it, if that would help.

theres a picture of the socket.........anyone ever gotten a tube outta one of these?

The metal can is an electrostatic shield, and plays no part in holding the tube in. It's just a bit tight in its socket, or the pins are slightly bent.

- EXACTLY what he said. Hopefully it is the tube. It does look a bit scorched at the top from your pictures. I replaced the original tube in my old SWR Studio220 after about 8 years of use :rollno: and it brought back a lot of the punch & sparkling clarity which had faded over the years so hopefully if that is the problem & solution for your situation. At the very least its still a fairly cheap thing to replace in order to eliminate as a possible cause
