Need help with a Vintage Fender Fretless Neck

Hello board!!! I've lurked for years, picking up great tips and researching various things I've come across. This board is a wealth of knowledge!!! I appreciate any and all help!

I purchased a bass recently that was listed on Letgo as a "Fender Bass". The guy didn't know a thing about it and I was somewhat skeptical after looking at it. I decided to take a chance and buy it. I did as much research as I could, but haven't found much on it. From what I've found, it looks to be an early 60's fretless neck. The body, pots, pickguard, etc don't look fender to me. There are no markings on them. No serial numbers or anything. From what I understand, Fender produced some early 60's fretless basses that had no specific name...like Precision/Jazz. The patent numbers match that of early 60's models. The "screw" truss rod also matches up with those early editions. No stamps, though!?! No "Fender" on the tuning machines!?!

I guess I'm just asking if it truly is an early 60's fretless. I'm leaning towards no. I'd love to wrong, though! Thanks!

Allparts is on online parts retailer, and sells Fender licensed products.

That's what you have here.
It is a Fender replacement neck; possibly a 60's Style, but more than likely only a few years old, definitely not from the 60's.

Still I would think it's a very good quality piece of wood, as it is a genuine Fender replacement part.

Out of curiosity, do you have any pics of the body it was attached to? Maybe you can get some info on that also...

Here's the body. It seems well made, so maybe it is also Allparts. Again, no identifying marks except on the pots. It had been spray painted matte black.

Allparts is indeed a licensed product, but it is not a genuine Fender replacement neck. It's aftermarket. Fender makes their own replacement necks, and they are the only genuine Fender necks. ;-)

And of course, the bass isn't a Fender at all, nor are most of the parts. I can only hope the asking price wasn't that of a genuine Fender.

As far as I know Fender didn't start making fretless basses until late 69, early 70. That is modeled on the early 70's necks though, pretty cool actually, if you want to make that thing sound a lot more present, throw a Jazz pickup in the bridge position and a separate volume control for it.

Thanks! I paid $200, so I knew even if I was buying a fake that I was ok. I wasn't on the market for a fretless...really just wanted a P-bass.

No, it's not. it's a recent AllParts neck with an aftermarket 60s type Fender decal.

Hey for $200, if the neck is in good shape then it alone is worth that.
If you like how it sounds then good for you.

I don't. I'll take a closer look soon.

The pickups and electronics look Squier to me, except for the bridge which has slotted height screws.
