Need help with sound system

Our band just bought a new to us sound system. I don't think it is wired properly to get all we can out of this system.

The components are as follows;

-Peavey unity series 1000 12 channel mixer
-Rane ME-15 Dual Channel EQ
-DOD 835 Stereo Crossover
-Crest Audio CA9 power amp
-Crest Audio LA 901 monitor amp
-2 Carvin tweeter cabs
-2 Carvin mid cabs
_2 Carvin bass cabs


He had them hooked up like this;

mixer - EQ - crossover - power amp with piggy back speaker wire running to the cabs from the amp.

Am I wrong here or isn't this defeating the purpose of having the crossover.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to mess anything up by hooking something somewhere it doesn't belong.

one of the horns and one of the bass cabs doesn't work right now but everything else seems fine so far.

We only paid 1800.00 for it so we think we got a good deal and don't mind having to do some small repairs here and there.

from the crossover it needs to go into seperate amps for each cab. only thing i see, otherwise good buy.

We got a friend to help us with the system and got it working. Man, this system rocks.

We found a couple of problems tho. One of the horns is not working. It is getting a signal in the back but it ain't coming out the front. The speaker has a crossover board in the jack plate. Not sure if it is in the board or in the speaker.
The other bug is in the main power amp(CA9). One of the channels clips out at a very low volume.

We have bypassed that channel and are just using one channel to run the lows. Running the mids and highs out of the LA901. Our sound guy friend brought over another amp and some monitors. We now have one helluva practice system that we can also use just about anywhere we will ever play. We are still a long ways from playing anywhere tho as we have only been together for about 2 months and I have only been playing for about 6 months.

Any ideas on what to look for with the amp? Right now that is our greatest concern in getting fixed or replaced.
