Need Help with Svt-3 pro!!

Ok I just got this head used yesterday. It sounds amazing, however... when I try to input a flanger into the effects loop, I get a cool distortion, but I dont want it. The gain is set good, and theres no peak clipping showing, but I still get a fuzzy distortion in the sound. I have used this flanger on my traynor 50 watt combo and it was fine. Does this mean the tubes might need changing? (They might be up to 5 years old!!) Thanks

There might be a problem with the Effects Loop buffer or return.

If it only happens when using the effects loop, try patching a cable from SEND to RETURN without any effects, to see if the distortion is present without the Flanger.

I had something like this happening to an SVP-PRO when using the effects loop, but was actually very horrible distortion like a Synth on Overdrive, it got fixed when I used a 12AU7 in V5 lowering the overall output, now it only happens if I crank the gain, bass and mids.

I actually found a fix. I read up that Ampeg suggests turning the gain down, and boosting the Master volume. This will bring a slight hiss, but gets rid of the distortion. Basically use the gain as the volume knob, and all works fine. Thanks for the replies though.
