Need help!

It was more of a friendly jab but for me they're WAY too "face in the crowd".
I understand what you're saying. I'm usually just like you when it comes to things like that. Hate to "follow the crowd". I guess growing up watching all my favorite bands (most of the bass players used fenders), that's what I wanted to play. I always loved the look of Rics, but couldn't stand the tone. I understand them a little better now and don't look at them "that way" any more. Never played one but I hear they are a whole different animal - kinda like a Strat and a Les Paul.

When people cannot afford an Audi, they say they prefer a VW. I’ve never played a MIM that plays and sounds better than a MIA in my 30 years of bass playing.
You may be right. And that's a good analogy. A good friend of mine would disagree with you. But to each his own.

I love the way Rickys sound and I had two, ages ago but they are "different" to play, especially if you're a finger player, which I am. Not a deal breaker for me but less than ideal.

Maybe I’m not good enough to play that bass. Lol. The “I’m not worthy” phrase has been haunting me.
With that line of thinking you are on your way to “I’m too good to play that Squier”, and nobody wants to be that guy.
Get what you can afford and then whatever FEELS, sounds and looks what you love and then play the hell out of it and OWN it.
I recently picked up a VM 70’s Jazz because it impressed the hell out of me. I played it before looking at the price tag. I have a couple of mid priced beautiful bass’s and I have been really impressed with this Squier and tend to pick it up more than my others.
Any on your list are great as long as they’re setup the way you like’m.

How’s the neck radius? Is there a noticeable difference between the 7.5 and 9.5? Just asking because I have small hands and really short fingers.

Sorry for the late reply... I too have very small hands and fingers and personally do not notice any difference between the neck radius, but then again, I play everything from a Rick & '51 P with baseball sized necks to 5 string LTD and a 5 string Fender Jazz with even bigger necks, then switch back to skinny 4 string Jazz necks with no problems. My MIJ Geddy has the slimmest neck, it's almost comical going from that to a Rick and back again.

With all that said, again, for me personally, the Fender Jazz has the most comfortable necks with both of my 60's models hitting my sweet spot as far as comfort goes. The Geddy is almost too skinny but I prefer that over the Precision & Rick necks for sure.

Good luck with your search!

Thanks Crusher47. I made a decision and it’s on the way. Lakland DJ4 (Lake Placid Blue).
Failed to mention... it’s the Skyline, not the U.S. model. lol.
