Need help.

Hello guys!
I hope you can help me with some issues.
I own a Cort Artisan C6 bass, split coils mics. Love the sound and growl (similar to Ibanez IMHO).
I play on a metal band and I realized that I always searched for a Warwick/Spector sound. I just love that basses on metal music...so...I was thinking on selling my bass and get a Spector Legend. The thing is I could sell my bass BEFORE even try a Legend. I love the sound of that bass but I am a little bit afraid of make a bad decision.
On the other hand, I'm feeling like I'm using a very good bass that sounds like Ibanez trying to make it more "warwick or spector" sounding...for me it's like having an Ampeg head and keep trying make it sound like a Gk 800Rb...


Ps. I know that Warwick and Spector are not the same thing but it seems all my favourite bassists uses one..and if I listen to something new and I think "wow what a nice punchy tone!" And go to check out that dude's gear it will be always a Warwick or a Spector...
But, seriously, I dont know what to do. I really love my C6. I can't keep it if I get that Spector...I'm worried of doing something wrong.

What exactly are you asking?

I don't have any experience with the gear you're referencing, so won't be much help with gear selection. I would say that chasing tones is often expensive, time consuming, and sometimes doesn't work.

Maybe start simple with strings?

Tone is more a sum of the parts that make up your entire bass rig and chain from your bass to the amp.

what kind of amp and speakers you play through?

do you have a pedalboard?

do you like clean tones or overdrive, distortion or fuzz???

In my experience anything you change in your chain will affect your tone.

I think the answer is "buy the Spector you want" but I'm not quite sure of the question

Don't get rid of what you have and love until you have tried something else and love it more. The image you build in your head can often prove to be a mirage in real life.

Does a Legend faithfully reproduce the "punch" that you like from USA Spectors?

When buying a car from Chevrolet, you can get a Malibu or a Z06 Corvette.

Go for a test drive.
