Need Help...

So currently I am running a 50 Watt '68 Fender Bassman into a Marshall 1960a 4x12 cab @ 4 Ohms. Currently I want to buy another cleaner head...possibly Ampeg or Eden. Can i run two heads into one cab. The cab can be run stereo @ 8 Ohms 150 watts/channel. Basically i want the overdriven sound of my Bassman and the solid clean sound of another amp. Is this a good idea or not, I don't know much about Ohms and watts i dont want to overpower my cab

You could, but that guitar cab is not going to handle much in the way of power from a second head into 2 12" (from a bass anyway)? I would guess the 2 12's will handle less than 75 watts from a bass guitar if that much.

Would it be smart to look into another cab for the amp, and just do a biamp setup?

Much smarter to look at a biamp setup. Use the older gear for one part of your sound and buy a separate bass cab for the cleaner tone. I suggest sucking the low end out of the older gear and let the clean bass cab tone cover the low end. The bass dedicated gear will handle it better for sure.

Use the Bass control or use an outboard crossover. The 50 watt Bassman will sound a lot louder if it is not handling frequencies below 100 Hz.
